9 easy engagement poses within 5 mins.

Ever had an engagement session right after it rains, where you can't do any sitting poses? Freakin' out that you're not gonna have a clue what to do or don't know how to talk to your clients to get the pose you want? Then this post is just for you! :)

Want to know what pose I start out with for an engagement session? (Taken straight from our Engagement Standing Guide)

Walk to me, baby!

Have them walk towards you and just talk to each other. Live, laugh, love. The sooner we get this going the sooner the dude can go back to watching the big game. Give him a reason to cooperate. ;)

Have them start out at the opposite end and tell them to walk towards you and talk to each other. I normally don’t like the images until they have done this walk thru at least one other time. The first time their faces usually look awkward, because they are like WTF are we doing. ;)

411: If they don’t think you're shooting them walking towards the opposite end, normally it’s a great candid moment & they are relaxed.

So start shooting and them add some variety. Talk to the clients, get them to loosen up.

Say, “What, you don’t walk in the same place 4 or 5 times a day while someone is shooting you… psh this is normal.” Get them to love you.

Add variety with these steps:

· Walk towards you linked arms

· Walk towards you holding hands

· Have the guy walk a bit in front of the girl, leading her & vice versa

· Walk towards you and take turns who is looking at the camera

Example: Girl look at cam, guy look at her

Guy look at cam, girl look at him

411: I start out shooting from the ground, then I lay on the ground & shoot, stand up & shoot them dead on, and then shoot them from the side walking.

From the back | Action

The next set of photos are a breeze. From the walking towards you, have them walk back and start all over again. This creates some great walking away from you action shots.

Add variety with these steps:

· Walk away linked arms

· Walk away holding hands

· Have them look out

· Have them look at each other

From the back | Freeze

You’re going to have to give them a bit more direction with these next set of shots.

Say, “Ok, guys, I want you to walk away from me but this time when I say FREEZE, I want you to kiss it out baby.” (Insert dude’s name, KISS her like you mean it, no tongue please.) They will usually laugh at that part and normally are happy to have a full blown make out session right then & there! Oh yeah, baby!

If your couple is a non PDA couple (remember to ask them this, PRIOR to making them suck face in public. Say ok, (insert dude’s name… actually from now on the dude’s name is going to be Bob), “Ok, Bob, you don’t have to suck her face, just whisper in her ear… and make it good.. Funny… sweet… what you’re going to do to her later, uhhuh you know what I’m talking about.”

411: Remember the more crazy, silly, goofy, you are, the more relaxed they will be.

Add variety with these steps:

· Walk Away & Freeze Holding Hands/Kissing

· Walk Away & Freeze Holding Hands/Whispering In Ear

· Walk Away & Freeze Half Hug/Kissing

· Walk Away & Freeze Half Hug/Whisper

411: If you have a pose that looks uber lovey dovey, remember to capture that emotion and get into their grill. It’s ok, if they start to look awkward, have them close their eyes. This makes the pose super lovey dovey and they aren’t like, “why are you in my bubble.” SCORE! Moving on.

The Walk & Look

Then you’re going to say, “Ok, Bob you’re good to go with these, you’re just a prop.” Normally the girl will be like, “yeah, it’s all about me…” This creates some casual convo.

Tell them to walk away and when you say LOOK, you’re going to have the girl (her name is Sue), have Sue look back at you. I usually show her, the whip hair around & give me a fierce look or a smile.

411: Show Sue what you want her to do, so that she doesn’t feel stupid. Prior to her starting say, “I’m gonna have you do this a few times…” That way she doesn’t think she’s doing something wrong & get self conscience.

Add variety with these steps:

· Walk away holding hands/space in between & look

· Walk away holding hands/closer

· Walking away holding hands/closer

· Guy snuggle into her hair

· Walking away holding hands/closer

· Guy look out opposite way
